PRODUCT ANNOUNCEMENT:

 System Architect® 11.4.10.2 Released

As a valued System Architect® customer, we want to let you know that a new version of System Architect (SA) has been commercially released. We continue to drive improvements to the product within themed areas to enable you to build and maintain a strategic, value-driven enterprise architecture.

System Architect 11.4.10.2 provides the following enhancements:

Frameworks - Additions to TOGAF 10: Three new diagram types have been added to TOGAF 10 support:
Value Stream diagram, supporting the TOGAF 10 Series Guide on Value Streams: https://pubs.opengroup.org/togaf-standard/business-architecture/value-streams.html.
Environments and Locations diagram.
Project Context diagram.

Frameworks - Additions to DoDAF 2, UAF, & NAF 4: The Port symbol has been added to DoDAF 2, UAF, and NAF 4 support out of the box. The Port symbol has been available to users via usrprops, and is part of sysML and UML support out of box. It is now available on the following diagram types:
SV-1 Systems Interface Description diagram in DoDAF 2 (and similar named diagrams in UAF and NAF 4).
A new "SvcV-01 Services Context with Ports" diagram in DoDAF 2 (and similar named diagrams in UAF and NAF 4), on which you can draw Ports and Service Ports.

User Experience
New Color Picker: entirely new functionality for selection of colors now allows use of a savable, adjustable palette and an enhanced color customization tool.

SA Diagramming - "Remove All" and "Cancel All" options for symbols: New choices are available when removing or deleting multiple symbols on a data centric diagram (in all model-based frameworks, such as TOGAF, DoDAF 2, UAF, Archimate, NAF, etc):
Remove All: Removes all selected symbols from the diagram without further prompts.
Cancel All: Cancels all selected symbol deletes without further prompts.
This provides a huge time saver. Previously, "Remove All" and "Cancel All" options were only available for symbols in Entity Relation and UML Class diagrams.
SA Diagramming - Moving Contained Symbols: Users may now control whether embedded symbols are moved when moving a containing symbol via an option in Tools, Preferences. This is also present in the Edit Position and Size of Symbol dialog.
'Mona Lisa' Enhancements: The option to View Symbol with Alternate Depiction - internally referred to as the "Mona Lisa" button - has had additional symbol depiction presentation options made available in a dropdown menu from the Symbol Depictions button. The same menu options that used to be presented on the View and Symbol context menus have been moved to a submenu.
Displayable Property Enhancements: Stylesheets have been introduced which have no displayable properties turned on. This enables you to model without Display Properties being turned on initially for every symbol type that you draw. In addition, a Set button has been added to the Display Mode dialog tabs to mirror the Clear button that is already present.
Pen Width Enhancement: A pen selection of width 2 has been added to the Pen Style dialog and Pen dropdown in the Style toolbar.
Opening Diagrams to External Windows via References: It is now possible to open diagrams in external windows from the References pane.
SA Explorer: Launch Properties Dialog for a Diagram Without Opening It: Previously, it was necessary to open a diagram before launching the properties dialog from the diagram window. In this release, you can launch the properties dialog for a diagram from the Explorer window context menu without opening the diagram.
Customizable Metamodel Language Enhancements:
SA Choices List: Ability has been added to hide the key of an object in the Choices list - previously, the BROWSER { OMITKEY }, BROWSER { SHOW }, and BROWSER { SHOW NAMEONLY } command was honored only in the Explorer window.
GUID String is Now Displayed After the Name: For definitions that are keyed by their own GUID (available in user-specified metamodels) - the GUID is now displayed at the end of the name in a Choices list. This was done by a change to the metamodel language: previously, the display format of heterogeneous list entries was Class:Type:Key1.Key2…Name.. In this release, the format for heterogeneous list entries is Class:Type:Name[Key1.Key2….].
SA BI Integration Enhancement:
SA REST URL timeout: SA Business Intelligence (BI) Integration pulls encyclopedia details from the SA Rest Service, and, for very large property sets, that SA Rest pull might timeout. In this release, a new configuration setting is available to override that timeout period in SASchemaGenerator.exe.config: <add key="RestRequestTimeout" value="100"/> <!--in seconds, default 100-->.
SA REST Enhancement:
Authentication through Service Account: The SA Rest Service had a limitation that if the SA Rest Service is running on a different machine than the Database server, it had to be configured with Basic Authentication. A new configuration option has been added that allows SA Rest Service to use the "Log On As" user credential to make database connections, making Windows Authentication possible.
SA XT User Experience:
SA XT Diagram Editor: Modal dialogs have been introduced to perform tasks such as selecting encyclopedia objects via Choices, attaching Child diagrams, and adding a picture to a diagram - versus opening the dialog in a new browser as was previous behavior.
Mouse scroll Now Scrolls the Diagram
Right-click Popup Menu Enhancement: The right-click context menu will not appear beyond the visible space when clicking close to window edges.
Beta of New Image Recognition Importer:
A beta version of a new SA XT Image Recognition Importer tool has been added to the SA XT Diagram Editor. This new feature allows users to import pictures of diagrams of various types - such as jpg, png, and svg - into an encyclopedia. The Image Recognition Importer identifies symbols and lines in the picture, and offers the user a choice on what definition type in System Architect the symbol or line should be mapped into. This tool can act as an intermediary between SA and other products so that the user can build diagrams quickly and efficiently without having to have extensive knowledge of SA.
Client Issues:
A number of client issues are also fixed, as enumerated and described in the Release Notes.
