 System Architect® 11.4.7.2 released

Los Angeles, California, May 4, 2020

As a valued System Architect® customer, we want to let you know that a new version of System Architect (SA) has been commercially released. We continue to drive improvements to the product within themed areas to enable you to build and maintain a strategic, value-driven enterprise architecture.

System Architect 11.4.7.2 provides the following enhancements:

Performance Enhancement for Data Centric Diagramming in System Architect and SA XT: When adding a new symbol to a data centric diagram, System Architect now only refreshes relationships from the newly added symbol to existing symbols on the diagram, versus examining and refreshing all existing symbols on the diagram and their interrelationships to one another. This includes new symbols added to a diagram via the Draw tool or dragging an item from Choices or the Explorer tree.
Frameworks - Enhancement to Port Symbol Behavior: Port symbols can now anchor on the inside and outside of the edge of the host symbol. This enhancement is available for the Port symbol added to a user’s framework via usrprops.txt and to support the requirements of SysML and UML 2.5.1 frameworks planned for future releases of SA.
Web Browser Diagramming: In SA XT, when you select the name or graphic comment of a symbol that resides outside the symbol - SA XT now also selects the owning symbol.
Web Login: The SA XT Login page has updated styling. Also, two new options have been added to web.config to streamline the login process: DisplayServerTypeSelection (allows Server Type to be hidden), and DisplayModeSelection (to display Readonly or Updater mode).
Usability: The SA status bar now presents more progress feedback when: a) updating meta data while opening an encyclopedia, and b) generating a user property file from the Meta Model Object definitions (usrprops.txt GUI).
Web Reporting: The version of Focal Point™ included as an optional install for the SA XT Gadget Dashboard has been upgraded to Focal Point version 7.4 which contains Kanban Charts amongst other new features (Note that you can turn on full Focal Point functionality with a Focal Point license).
Access Control: Catalog Manager now imports Active Directory group members that are in different domains.
SA Publisher Web Output: Greatly improved the performance of websites generated by SA Publisher that were presenting an architecture with a large data set. The SA Publisher explorer tree now uses slickgrid.js (replacing jstree.js).
Client Issues: A number of client issues are also fixed, as enumerated and described in the Release Notes.
APQC: UNICOM has made available the prebuilt reference architectures of the American Productivity Quality Center (APQC) in the UNICOM Customer Portal. These 5-layer business process reference models address all industries, from automotive to banking to retail and more.
IBM® Garage Method: In partnership with IBM, UNICOM has made templates available to model architectures in System Architect using the IBM Garage Method. The template includes symbols, an example metamodel template, and example architecture diagrams for digital transformation technologies such as Hybrid Cloud, Blockchain, IoT, and Microservice Architectures. All are now available on the UNICOM Customer Portal.
