Product Announcement:

System Architect® 11.4.7 released

Enhancements to Frameworks, Web Drawing & Dashboards

Los Angeles, California, October 23, 2019

As a valued System Architect® customer, we want to let you know that a new version of System Architect (SA) has been commercially released. We continue to drive improvements into the product within themed areas to enable you to build and maintain a value-driven enterprise architecture. System Architect 11.4.7 provides the following enhancements:

Frameworks & Customizable Metamodel: Ports Generically Available: You may now create and manipulate a "Generic" Port symbol, via the USRPROPS metamodel language. The symbol and its behavior, previously only available in UML, can now be applied to custom frameworks. Enhancements to the previous symbol behavior (i.e. optional indicators) have also been made.
Frameworks - DoDAF 2.02: Two changes were made to DoDAF 2 to match the latest DoDAF 2.02 published specification: ActivityResourceOverlap (DM2r) was renamed to ActivityProducesConsumersResource (DM2r) and Data Store (DM2rx) was added to the types available in an SV-10c Data Store definition.
Web Client (SA XT) - Box-in-Box Data Centricity: SA XT drawing now supports data centric behavior if you place one symbol inside another symbol, in specified diagram types. This mirrors functionality of SA rich client.
Web Client (SA XT) - Display Alternate Depiction: SA XT drawing now supports presenting a symbol by its alternate depiction or by an adornment, mirroring behavior of SA rich client.
Web Client (SA XT) - Selection of Pen Thickness: SA XT now allows selection of line thickness independent of line style, mirroring behavior of SA rich client.
Reporting - Type/Find in SA XT: The SA XT Reporting GUI now allows you to type a letter to quickly find a Symbol, Definition, Diagram, or Relationship type.
Reporting - Selection of Defines/Defined By Relationship Types in SA XT: The new SA XT Reporting GUI now allows you to select Defines/Defined By relationship types, which are used in SA's data centric frameworks.
Web - SA Publisher Enhancements: The SA Publisher output website is now built using a group of uncomplicated HTML and CSS files to allow for easier user style and functional customizations. These changes recreate output similar to that found in previous versions of SA Publisher prior to 11.4, while still utilizing updated JavaScript functionality that does not require the Java runtime.
Integrations - VBA 7.1 Replaces VBA 6.5: The latest Microsoft Visual Basic for Applications - version 7.1 - now ships with SA, embedded in the tool as before. Macros built with VBA 6.5 should automatically work with VBA 7.1.
Integrations - XML Export/Import: An OK button is now available on the 1st page of the XML Export wizard to cause the export to begin when all related items have been found. XML Import now allows import of immediate folder contents rather than forcing the user to select each file in a folder.
Performance: Encyclopedia and catalog structures have been updated to remove use of some types that were going out of support; the replacement types should improve performance. New encyclopedias will be created with the new structure; existing encyclopedias can continue to be used without being modified, or updated using SAEM (Tool > Convert text and image types). Catalogs will be upgraded by Catalog Manager as usual.
Access Control: In Catalog Manager: 1) Menu Permissions now show default location of the associated menu item in the menu structure, and 2) Summing of permissions of Catalog Manager Roles now allows locally-assigned permission values to override inherit/disinherit actions programmed in role expressions.
