 System Architect® 11.4.8 released

As a valued System Architect® customer, we want to let you know that a new version of System Architect (SA) has been commercially released. We continue to drive improvements to the product within themed areas to enable you to build and maintain a strategic, value-driven enterprise architecture.

System Architect 11.4.8 provides the following enhancements:

Frameworks: Initial Support for sysML 1.6: Initial support for the Systems Modeling Language (sysML), version 1.6. It includes full support for the sysML metamodel, and support for static structure diagrams.
Frameworks: Initial Support for UML 2.5: Initial release of comprehensive support for the UML 2.5, including full support of the metamodel, and static structure diagrams. This support is in addition to current UML 2 support, now denoted as UML 2 "Lite".
SA XT Personalized Dashboards: Users may now create personalized web dashboards in SA XT, with their own selection of tabs that hold multiple reports in widgets. The reports can surface information from different encyclopedias and/or workspaces, side-by-side. Each user's dashboard is tied to their access rights. This functionality is native to SA XT and supercedes (and is quicker than) functionality available in the SA Gadget Dashboard add-in to SA XT, which required a separate install with database.
SA Drawing Enhancements: Numerous enhancements were made to System Architect's line drawing experience, selection of symbols on a diagram, and to display of symbol names and child indicators.
Integrations: OSLC Support for HTTPS – Consumer Callback URL: An ini setting, SAOSLCConsumerEnableSSL, has been added to instruct the System Architect OSLC Consumer code to support HTTPS on the OAuth callback URL.
Integrations: OSLC – New REST Call Returning Configuration Info: To simplify configuration, information needed by the SA OSLC Consumer has been exposed from the SA Rest service. The user will no longer need to update the SAServerConfiguration.xml file on each desktop client.
Metamodel Language Enhancement: It is now possible for a single definition type to support a number of different line symbol types as a result of updates to the REPRESENTS EXPLICIT RELATIONSHIP command.
Metamodel Language Enhancement for SA Explorer Tree: You may now display the Name Only for referenced objects in the Explorer using the new BROWSER { NAMEONLY } usrprops command, which works alongside BROWSER { SHOW }. It is useful for keyed reference definitions: you may now not show the long key.
Reporting: Support of Script to Format Selected Values: You may now script out the format a selected value in an output report (via fmtscrpt.bas).
SAEM: Improve Lookup Table Creation: Enhancements were made to the Lookup Table function in SAEM, used when doing encyclopedia maintenance: removing reliance on a temporary file, showing the SA window so user can see if it is waiting for input, and messages for progress and feedback.
SA Cognos Schema Generator Renamed to SA BI Interface: This utility, which is provided with System Architect via a separate, optional install, allows you to generate a normalized version of the encyclopedia into an ODS data source that is a Microsoft SQL Server database, wherein every definition type is mapped to a separate table. This data source can be queried with any Business Intelligence (BI) tool, such as IBM Cognos, Tableau, and Microsoft Power BI.
SA Publisher Output No Longer Dependent on Web Server: Previously, SA Publisher output needed to be processed through a web server such as Microsoft IIS, to allow SVG decompression and reading of XML and SVG files. Local file access could be achieved by altering your browser security, but this was not recommended. In 11.4.8, SA Publisher output can be opened without going through a web server. One limitation is that if you have chosen SVG Compression, the output will still require a web server or altering your browser security. We recommend not compressing your SVG for local file access.
